ABK – The Bulgarian Book Association

The Bulgarian Book Association is the only organization of book publishers, book distributors and book agents in the country. It is a non-profit organization in private favour, established in 1994. The Association has more than 90  members – book publishers, book distributors and book agents, who are responsible for over 90% of book publishing in Bulgaria. The Association’s activities are aimed at fostering sustainable development of the national book publishing in compliance with the European practices and standards, and at promoting reading as a crucial precondition for  person’s spiritual development. In 2006  ABK designed the national program “Reading Bulgaria” and the “Strategy for sustainable development of the national book market”.  Among its activities, ABK organizes Sofia International Book Fair and presents Bulgaria with national stands at the international book exhibitions; organizes seminars and training courses  with the purpose of upgrading the qualification of its members. ABK works with governmental institutions to  harmonize Bulgarian legislation according to the European standards and carries  out media campaigns for reading promotion.

AIE – Associazione Italiana Editori

The AIE (Italian Publishers Association) is the trade association for publishers operating in Italy or who publish books, magazines and digital products in Italian. The Association  was formed in 1869. In 1896 AIE became member of the International Publishers Association and in 1967 was one of the founders of the FEP. AIE counts around 400 members, which represent 95% of the total national book production. In last years AIE couples lobbying activities related with a  wide range of services, including market surveys; training; management of databases; participation to national and international book fairs; publications (the Giornale della Libreria, the Italian leader book-trade magazine, a book series, a monthly newsletter and a website). Particular attention is paid to the development of publishing standards; in this field AIE representatives chair the ISBN International Agency, the Standard and Technology of IPA and EDItEUR, and seat in Board of International DOI Foundation and of the International Publishing Digital Forum. Since 1996 AIE is involved in a number of European and national projects concerning technological innovation. Through its service company, EDISER, AIE organizes since 2008 Editech, an yearly international two-days conference on publishing innovation and technology.

AMETIC – Asociación multisectorial de empresas de la electonica las tecnologias de la informacion y la comunicacion, de las telecomunicaciones y de los contenidos digitales

AMETIC is the new Spanish association for electronics, information technologies, telecommunications, and digital content. AMETIC is composed  of over 5.000 associated enterprises and numbers 350.000 employees in its totality, representing an economic activity surrounding the 7% mark of Spain’s GNP. AMETIC is born from the fusion of AETIC and Asimelec, effective January 1st, 2011. AMETIC has a wide-reaching experience in creating sector stakeholder networks and in fostering cooperation between them, most notably through the work of the of Digital Content platform  and the Digital Content Sectorial Area which is a permanent lobby group of the Association. The Spanish networked electronic  media and the digital content technological platforms managed by the Research and Development Department of AMETIC gather more than 350 stakeholders, end-users, associations, public administrations, industry and researchers, The technological platforms intend to promote effective and market oriented R&D. AMETIC also has experience in coordinating European SCA for fostering cooperation with South America, like SALA3D (www.sala3d.eu) and Sala+ (www.salamas.eu). AMETIC is also participating in the launch of 3 Latin American Platforms in México, Brazil and Chile promoting the cooperation in innovation between Spanish and Latin-American entities AMETIC is also founder member of the Federation of IT Associations from South America, the Caribbean and Spain (ALETI) and member of Digital Europe and is the national contact point for the European eSkills week.

ANITEC – Associazione Industrie Informatica Telecomunicazione Ed Elettronica Di Consumo

Anitec, the National ICT and CE Association, is the representative body of the leading companies operating in Italy in ICT and CE sector. Anitec is member of Confindustria, main organization representing Italian manufacturing and services companies and organisations, and founding member of Confindustria Digitale, the federation that represents ICT companies employing 250.000 people, producing more than 70 billions euro of annual turnover. At a European level Anitec is member of Digital Europe and partner of Eito. Anitec is also member ETSI, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, which defines the technical standards for the sector. Anitec is divided in five sectorial groups and provides its associated companies with information and support on important topics such as environment, trade, consumers guarantee licensing, market access, regulations. The association supports innovation, R&D and new technologies towards the uptake of a digital economy. Anitec is recognized by Italian and EU authorities and provides position papers in favor of its associated companies.

APDETIC – The Association of Producers and Distributors for IT&C Equipments

APDETIC is  a non-profit, independent professional organization, comprising the most important ICT equipment companies in Romania. It was set  up in 2003 by 11 founders and counts at present 35 members. APDETIC represents the interests of the ICT equipment producers and distributors, being an authorized and representative dialogue partner with the Government and the Parliament. Through the interaction with these institutions, APDETIC promoted and contributed to several legislative initiatives, aiming at developing the ICT equipments sector and market in Romania and to promote high professional standards. In 2004 APDETIC initiated the “Euro 200” Governamental Program to grants pupils and students a 200 EUR coupon for PC acquisition. As a result of the implementation of this program over 200.000 PC’s were acquired by the target group. As part of the partnership between the Tech 21 Coalition, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCTI) and the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, APDETIC contributed to the creation of the “Romania IT” brand, the first sector brand in Romania. APDETIC participated in the campaign eSkills Week 2010, 2012 and 2014 and coordinated all the activities within the eSkills Week project in Romania.

BOEK – Boek.be

Boek.be is the umbrella organization of the book trade in Flanders, the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. Boek.be represents both book publishers (Vlaamse Uitgevers Vereniging – VUV), book importers (Verenigde Boeken Importeurs  VBI) and booksellers (Vereniging  Vlaamse Boekverkopers  VVB). It is also home to a collecting  society (LIBRIUS), a Books-in-print title database (DANTE, which is also the B2B application for publishers,  importers and booksellers, as well as an ISBN portal and a website offering online access to textbook material for teachers and students (Knooppunt).  Boek.be has experience with organizing a variety of actions, events and prizes in and for the Flemish book trade. It also hosts and organizes the Antwerp Book Fair, which draws a crowd of over 180,000 visitors each year. Moreover, the Boek.be Center of Excellence (Kenniscentrum) gives economical/legal advice and training sessions to its members, and provides the sector with trade statistics by monitoring the book market and technological developments.
