Summary

Mylibreto is an innovative book discovery tool whose aim is to exponentially increase books diffusion through the Internet.

Books don’t travel well through the web and don’t rank in high positions in search engines as they are rarely shared on social networks and they can’t be embedded in other sites as, for example, videos are. Authors and publishers have little data about what is happening with their books as the on line shops are the real gatekeepers, since they have the useful data about what happens on line with every book. Every book can increase exponentially its diffusion in the Internet. But this needs time, knowledge, and being ready to invest a huge effort.

Mylibreto provides books with a digital native format that increases visibility and that makes them easily shareable, even embeddable the way videos are, thus saving lots of time on book marketing. It allows authors and publishers to market their books on the Internet and know the relevant data they need in order to make good decisions.

Business Needs

Need for users data analysis. The decreasing marketing budgets for book online promotion must be wisely invested and, therefore, many information are fundamental, as Internet users data such as where interested readers are coming from, to which community they belong (SciFi, mystery,..), how many visitors partner blogs really have and so on. Today, these data are owned exclusively by online retailers.

Publishers simply do not have the slightest idea of what is happening out there with their books. In a few years, only those who have the right information will know who can help them to promote their books in the digital landscape (i.e. literary blogs, fora, readers groups…). Only these publishers will have a chance to survive in a world driven by online shops.

Ranking in search engines: Another challenge for the book world is conquering the search engines. Due to the poor SEO value of the average books websites, books practically do not appear in search engines for keywords other than their own title. Search engines are the most important marketing tool of our days and books, in order to compete with other formats, need to rank high in Google, Bing and other engines.

Solutions

Usually, a book on the Internet is a site on an online shop or a text archive (PDF, EPUB or another format) but none of these options is a satisfactory way to promote a book. Mylibreto offers every book a multimedia format, the so-called libreto, which boosts the capacities of a book on the Internet. The libreto allows every buyer to choose the preferred shop and the desired format of the book. No more useless broken links on other's pages, mylibreto centralizes all shopping links and allows to manage them.

An author or a small publisher can, by means of Mylibreto, compete with the strong players of the book market. The libreto is generated by the user himself on Mylibreto’s web. By means of its libreto, the book becomes  especially suited for being shared on social networks. Even more, the libreto can be embedded on every web page.

Libretos can be easily embedded as widget into webs and blogs, for instance to complement a review on the book or on the sidebar as publicity. Mylibreto delivers to the publisher, seller or author the statistics about the spreading of libreto’s and the incoming traffic every url with a libreto-widget generates.

Mylibreto collects data of the libreto’s behaviour on the web and detects which communities are showing interest for the book and are ready to buy it, which are its most visited sales-links, and which social networks are really helping to sell this book. The libreto’s statistics register day by day the moves of a book on digital media. Even more, the libreto  is usually very good detecting offline events such as being mentioned on radiocasts or on TV. This link between the online and offline world is possible first thanks to the fact that very often people watch TV or a book presentation with their handy or tablet in the hand and, second, to the hugh ranking on search engines of the libreto. Online searches related with the author or the book have, thus, a high probability to land on the libreto.
